The Home Stretch
Mustache-A-Thon? 826michigan? What?
KC generously agreed to shave a 5-year beard and for six weeks grow a mustache for the sake of one phenomenal charity. He is one among 30+ "mustache farmers" cultivating their facial hair and enduring the pain of shaving, and the ridicule of hearing "nice 'stache d-bag."
Whereas the mustache was once a sign of raw masculinity in the Tom Sellecks, Burt Reynolds and Mark Spitzes of the world, now a hirsute upper lip is indicative of cheesy porn stars, cheesier cops, and ironic hipsters.
How can you not chip in a few bucks for that kind of sacrifice?
Well, if it's not enough then maybe it would help to know where the money is going. 826michigan is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting students ages 6 to 18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Their services are structured around our belief that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success. Not only that, but all programs--the daily tutoring, in-school programs, creative writing workshops, field trips, real student book publications, you name it--are free to all participants. Absolutely free.
How can you not chip in a few bucks for THAT?
826michigan is also home to the Liberty Street Robot Supply and Repair. Maybe you've seen it. Maybe you have a robot that needs parts or a tune-up. Maybe you think, "Hey, I've been to that store and it's AWESOME. How can I chip in a few bucks for that?"
